Want to earn money doing a job that has some relevance to your course and will look great on your CV?
The Shell Step programme is a paid summer work placement that gives you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience. ExDRA reviews all placement applications, both student and business, paring up suitable applicants with mutually beneficial projects. The result of this is invaluable and specific work experience for you and an injection of project expertise at minimal cost and comittment for the business.
As a second year undergraduate you will have the opportunity to make a difference. Your host company will decide upon the project and you will have an 8 week project based placement in order to complete this challenge and make a real positive impact on the business.
What are the benefits to you?
* You will get paid around £200 a week which is exempt from tax and National Insurance.
* Unlike normal work experience you will be set your very own project to manage and complete.
* You will have this unique opportunity to gain valuable relevant paid work experience in your chosen career field.
* You will gain valuable relevant experience over a course of 6-8 weeks in your chosen career field.
* In an award ceremony awards are given for notable projects in a number of categories. Your project work could be recognised and awarded, with an award and/or a cash sum.
* Most importantly when you have completed your paid summer work placement your CV will be head and shoulders above other students.
So who can apply?
* Any full time degree student in their second or penultimate year at University.
* Any student who has completed two years of a HND if you are intending to continue on to degree level.
* If you have completed two years of a HND, as long as you intend to continue on to degree level.
* Students that are not temporary exchange students from overseas universities.
What types of projects are available?
Just some examples are:
* Setting up IT/accountancy systems.
* Design and implementation of websites.
* Marketing plans.
* Setting up Quality Systems (e.g ISO 9000, Health and safety etc).
* Analysis of production methods.
* Environmental audits.
* Design of new product concepts.
And many more.
