WELFARE TO WORK - PEOPLE WITH ASPERGERS SYNDROME INTO EMPLOYMENT
This is part of the Welfare to Work for Disabled People (W2W) initiative. W2W operates as a response to the current government's employment agenda, the aim of the scheme being to encourage and enable people with Aspergers Syndrome to find jobs rather than rely on Incapacity Benefit. There is a massive potential workforce in Essex that is currently unable to find employment because of socially constructed barriers. W2W is about removing barriers, promoting equality and recognising potential for people in the Essex County Council area. As such the aims of W2W are encapsulated in its strapline, "Removing barriers to employment for disabled people"; the programme embraces the Social Model of Disability.
Submissions are required by 18th December 2007.
