Where ideas matter
Date: 14 March 2006
The Essex Technology and Innovation Centre, at Ongar, is moving on apace with its contribution to the business innovation agenda in Essex.
Opened in November 2005, the Centre provides 30 high quality business spaces together with state-of-the-art conference facilities, creating a modern, vibrant and unique environment where new ideas and innovative businesses can develop, grow and prosper.
The new Centre is part of the wider Essex Innovation Network that is seeking to develop and harness the creative and innovative spirit in the County by working with a range of organisations which jointly contribute to this agenda. Other partners include the University of Essex, Anglia Ruskin University, Business Link, the Learning and Skills Council and the East of England Development Agency.
The Centre at Ongar is now developing a package of effective support for individuals and businesses with innovation at their heart.
During 2006, a programme of Business Innovation Workshops will be delivered, looking at a range of topical subjects relevant to the innovation agenda. The first of these takes place on 29th March and will provide practical advice on funding for innovation.
In addition, the “CM5” virtual office service offers all the benefits of a prestigious address and associated services without the commitment of moving into premises.
David Adlington, of the Essex Development & Regeneration Agency, and Director of the Essex Technology and Innovation Centre, is clearly excited about the potential of the Centre. “Essex is justifiably proud of its history of producing innovative ideas that have changed the world. Chelmsford, through its historical connection with Marconi, is known as the “Birthplace of Radio”, while Harlow is where optical fibre communication was first developed at what is now Nortel. The sector is still very much alive today and the new Essex Technology and Innovation Centre offers an excellent environment where the innovative ideas, products and solutions for tomorrow can be born. Coupled with the other services on offer, including the 2006 Business Innovation workshops, I am confident that Ongar will make a major contribution to the innovation agenda in Essex.”
