Inward Investment
What is Inward Investment?
Essex is a key player in the East of England economy, supporting over 50,000 businesses that provide employment to local people and make a significant contribution to the national economy. The County is already home to a number of internationally renowned companies, including e2v technologies, SmithKline Beecham, Ford, Nortel and Britvic and numerous small and medium sized enterprises.
There is no doubt that the County is strategically placed as a superb business location. A highly skilled and trained workforce is available as are major development opportunities across the County within our town centres and on greenfield and brownfield sites. On the doorstep of Europe and the financial capital of the world and with an international airport providing access around the globe, there probably is no county better placed to attract new investment.
ExDRA is working with a range of partners to ensure that Essex maximises its inward investment potential. At a regional level ExDRA works closely with East of England International on major foreign inward investment enquiries and with local partners the Agency is developing a county wide inward investment strategy to set out an agreed approach to handling inward investment enquiries in the future.
As part of the Agency’s activities a county wide property database is managed in association with Estates Gazette and provides the most comprehensive land and premises search facility within Essex.
Inward investment is primarily concerned with attracting new investment from elsewhere into the County. Coupled with this priority ExDRA is mindful that it is equally important to foster the growth of indigenous businesses and encourage them to stay within the County wherever possible.
