Essex - the perfect place to grow your ideas

Date: 06 September 2006

Building on a long and proud history of innovation in the county, the Essex Innovation Network (EIN) is a partnership of agencies, business groups and universities whose collective aim is to make Essex one of the best places to develop new ideas.

Essex has a long association with innovative business, being chosen by Marconi as the location for the world’s first radio factory and now home to innovative companies that include well known names such as e2v technologies, Raytheon and GlaxoSmithKline, but also a significant number of smaller yet equally leading edge companies such as Hunter Scientific Ltd and High Barn Ltd.

The Network is working to create the best possible environment within Essex, Southend and Thurrock that allows budding entrepreneurs, and new and existing businesses to exploit the full potential of their ideas and creativity.

Autumn 2006 is a significant milestone. Having secured funding from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and with support from Essex County Council and a range of other partners, practical support is now being delivered to enable the Network’s vision to become reality.

So what is being done to make all of this happen?
