BBC presents Essex at its very best

A commemorative calendar marking 20 years of BBC Essex and celebrating the diversity and beauty of Essex has been launched.
BBC Essex presenters have chosen their 12 favourite locations from across the county, which are reflected by stunning images within the calendar. Locations featured include Harwich (described by Steve Scruton as “quaint streets, maritime history and home of Pirate BBC Essex!”) and Southend on Sea (described by Dave Monk as having “sunsets across the Estuary that are some of the best in the world.”
Margaret Hyde, BBC Essex’s Managing Editor is delighted with the project. “The 2007 Essex calendar is a perfect way to celebrate our 20 year association with the county and showcase what a beautiful place Essex really is. I am delighted to have been able to work with Essex County Council and the Essex Development & Regeneration Agency to make this really worthwhile project come to fruition.”
Councillor Peter Martin, Deputy Leader of Essex County Council and Cabinet Member for Planning, Environment and Culture is equally pleased with the finished product. “Essex has an abundance of beautiful places to visit that are often overlooked. What better way to celebrate a sample of what the county has to offer and let people see this for themselves every day of the year for a full calendar year. I am sure that the 2007 calendar will be a huge success.”
The calendars have been designed in two formats, an A4 wall hanging version for £4.99 and an A5 desktop version for £3.99. The calendars are being sold in support of the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity and will be available from 28th August from Essex Tourist Information Centres and Ottakars in Chelmsford .
