Business Competitiveness
Essex, home to over 50,000 businesses providing a vast range of job opportunities for our local population is a major economic driver in the East of England. The county is home to internationally renowned companies that include e2v technologies, BAE Systems, Ford, SmithKline Beecham, Nortel and Britvic.
But Essex is not just about big business and with the majority of Essex jobs found in small and medium sized businesses it is critical that the right environment exists for small businesses to establish and get the support they need to become the multi-national companies of tomorrow.
ExDRA leads on a variety of activity that contributes to the right conditions to allow Essex businesses to grow, prosper and sustain themselves.
From the management of four Enterprise Centres and the Essex Technology and Innovation Centre to the facilitation of the Greater Essex Prosperity Forum to enable Essex businesses to be heard by county, regional and national government, ExDRA is playing its part in supporting the County’s businesses now and into the future.
With major growth planned across Essex during the next 15-20 years, including a target for over 100,000 new jobs in the Haven Gateway, Thames Gateway and M11 Corridor, Essex is set to be a major force in attracting new business and economic growth.
ExDRA, through a variety of existing programmes and new initiatives, will work with others to enable this growth to deliver a prosperous future for existing businesses in the County as well as potential inward investors.
